AWKUM Conducts First Day of Faculty Training on Blackboard LMS
Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) conducted the first day
of faculty training on the Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS) at the
Central Library Conference Hall, Garden Campus.
The training program was organized by the University’s ERP Cell
following the acquisition of the Blackboard LMS from the Higher Education
Commission (HEC) under the ERP framework. The initiative is aimed at
strengthening digital teaching, learning, and assessment practices in line with
contemporary academic standards.
Faculty members representing various academic departments
participated in the training sessions, which focused on course creation and
management, online teaching tools, assessment mechanisms, and strategies for
enhancing student engagement through the Blackboard platform.
The University administration acknowledged and appreciated the
support of the competent authority, Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty
members, IT Team, Central Library administration, meeting Section, and the
Registrar and Treasurer Offices for their cooperation in ensuring the
successful and smooth conduct of the training program.
Further training sessions will be conducted as per the approved
schedule.

Extension of Last Date for Submission of Semester Fee – Fall 2025
📢 Fee Submission Deadline Extended
This is to inform all students that the last date for submission of semester fees for Fall 2025 has been extended till Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
All students are required to deposit their dues on or before the extended date. Failure to do so will result in withholding of results, and a fine will be imposed strictly in accordance with University rules.
Students are advised to ensure timely payment to avoid any inconvenience.

PhD Public Defense of Ms. Aneela Akbar Conducted at Central Library (Garden Campus), AWKUM.
A PhD Public
Defense was successfully conducted at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan
(AWKUM) for Ms. Aneela Akbar, PhD Scholar, Department of Political
Science.
The defense
took place on January 28, 2026, at the Conference Room, Central
Library (Garden Campus), AWKUM.
During the
session, the scholar presented her PhD research titled:
“An Analysis of
the Impacts of Sit-ins on Parliamentary Democracy of Pakistan.”
The research
was completed under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Zahir Shah, Professor
and Pro-Vice Chancellor / Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences (DFSS).
The defense was
attended by a panel of internal and external examiners, along with faculty
members and research scholars. The presentation was followed by an interactive
question-and-answer session, during which the research methodology, findings,
and conclusions were thoroughly discussed.
The university
community appreciated the scholarly work and congratulated the scholar on this
important academic milestone.

Significant Agreement Between Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan and Hebei Agricultural University, China
Abdul Wali Khan
University Mardan (AWKUM) and Hebei Agricultural University (HEBAU), China,
have formally signed an important agreement for the establishment of the China–Pakistan
Yeast Biotechnology Joint Research Center. The purpose of this agreement is
to promote collaborative scientific research between the two universities,
particularly in the fields of agricultural biotechnology and yeast
biotechnology.
Under the
agreement, both institutions will jointly establish a research laboratory that
will facilitate advanced research activities, joint research programs, academic
conferences, exchange of scientific information, and the exchange of scientists
and experts. The laboratory will be jointly supervised by nominated Co-Directors
from both universities.
The agreement
also includes clauses related to Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
According to these provisions, the outcomes of joint research activities will
be jointly owned by both institutions, while the rights of independently
conducted research will remain with the respective institution.
The agreement
has come into effect immediately upon signing and will remain valid for a
period of four years.
The agreement
was signed on behalf of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan by Vice Chancellor
Professor Dr. Jamil Ahmad, and on behalf of Hebei Agricultural University
by the Director, International Office. The signing ceremony was attended
by Director ORIC Dr. Tariq Mahmood, Additional Director QEC Abrar Hussain
Umarzai, Assistant Professor Zia-ul-Islam, and Professor Dr. Rahim Sher.
This agreement
is being regarded as a significant step toward further strengthening higher
education and research collaboration between Pakistan and China.

AWKUM Hosts Creative Art Exhibition Showcasing Students’ Talent
Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, under the auspices of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa College of Arts, organized a remarkable exhibition of students’ creative artworks. The exhibition showcased artistic works produced by students from the disciplines of Textile Designing, Interior Designing, Fashion Designing, and Photography.
On this occasion, the Commissioner Mardan, Mr. Javed Khan Marwat,
graced the event as the Chief Guest, while the Vice Chancellor, Women
University Mardan, Professor Dr. Raziya Sultana, and the District Police
Officer (DPO) Mardan, Mr. Masood Khan Bangash, attended the event as
distinguished guests. The guests were warmly received by Mr. Fazal Sattar,
Principal, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa College of Arts; Dr. Tariq Mahmood, Director
ORIC; and Mr. Farhad Safi, Director Administration. The honorable guests
took keen interest in the exhibition and highly appreciated the students’
creative work.
The Commissioner Mardan, Mr. Javed Khan Marwat, while commending
the students’ artwork, stated that the creative abilities of youth are highly
commendable and that such activities play a vital role in the professional
development and training of students.
On the occasion, the Vice Chancellor, Abdul Wali Khan University
Mardan, Professor Dr. Jamil Ahmed, presented commemorative shields to the
guests. A tree plantation activity was also carried out in the presence
of the university administration.

Notice Regarding Commencement of New Semester and Transport Service
As per the Academic Calendar, all examinations have been completed, and classes for the new semester will resume on 9th February 2026.
All students are advised to complete their registration for the new semester before the commencement of classes to avoid any inconvenience.
It is further informed that the University transport (route service) will not be available from tomorrow and will resume on 9th February 2026, coinciding with the start of the new semester.
