Abdul Wali Khan
University Mardan (AWKUM) and Hebei Agricultural University (HEBAU), China,
have formally signed an important agreement for the establishment of the China–Pakistan
Yeast Biotechnology Joint Research Center. The purpose of this agreement is
to promote collaborative scientific research between the two universities,
particularly in the fields of agricultural biotechnology and yeast
biotechnology.
Under the
agreement, both institutions will jointly establish a research laboratory that
will facilitate advanced research activities, joint research programs, academic
conferences, exchange of scientific information, and the exchange of scientists
and experts. The laboratory will be jointly supervised by nominated Co-Directors
from both universities.
The agreement
also includes clauses related to Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
According to these provisions, the outcomes of joint research activities will
be jointly owned by both institutions, while the rights of independently
conducted research will remain with the respective institution.
The agreement
has come into effect immediately upon signing and will remain valid for a
period of four years.
The agreement
was signed on behalf of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan by Vice Chancellor
Professor Dr. Jamil Ahmad, and on behalf of Hebei Agricultural University
by the Director, International Office. The signing ceremony was attended
by Director ORIC Dr. Tariq Mahmood, Additional Director QEC Abrar Hussain
Umarzai, Assistant Professor Zia-ul-Islam, and Professor Dr. Rahim Sher.
This agreement
is being regarded as a significant step toward further strengthening higher
education and research collaboration between Pakistan and China.
