The date of convocation has been changed

 

The date of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan's fourth convocation has been changed from October 1,2022 to October 5, 2022

The rehearsal for the convocation will now take place on October 4, 2022 at 10 AM.

Result of the entrance test conducted for admissions in MPhil/PhD Fall-2022 is announced

 



Result of the entrance test conducted for MPhil/PhD Fall 2022 is available at https://exams.awkum.edu.pk. All candidates can get their result card by simply entering their form number. You can verify the result card by checking it yourself on the link above. 

As per academic council decision, ATS test result is valid for two years w.e.f from Fall 2021.  Results of Tests conducted in Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 are also valid. 

Students having a valid NTS test result for GAT are also eligible for admissions.

Workshop series on "Pedagogical Skills, Curriculum Tuning and Research skills development”

 

The workshop series on "Pedagogical Skills, Curriculum Tuning and Research skills development” was organized under the US-PAK Universities Grants Program Funded by United States Government & Administered by United States Educational Foundation Pakistan (USEFP) from August 18,  to September 01, 2022 at the Conference Hall Garden Campus, and Economics Department of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan. Faculty members from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business as well as the postgraduate students have attended these workshops.

The aims of these workshops were to develop skills of the faculty and students of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan on those themes. Dr. Muhammad Jehangir (Project Lead) welcomed the participants and presented the importance of the project. He further thanked US Government and USEFP for providing these amazing learning opportunities and to enhance the capacity building of our faculty and Students. Ms Irum Khan PhD. (GM Academics, Roots International Islamabad) conducted the workshop through a detailed presentation on case based teaching methods. This project also collaborates with the faculty members from local universities (Bacha khan University Charsadda, Buner University, Mardan Women University, Swabi Women University, Swabi University and Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) on pedagogy skills, curriculum development and tuning, research development and networking. AWKUM is a leading University in the project.

The 4th Convocation of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan has been scheduled on 1st October 2022. The eligible graduates who are desirous of attending the Convocation can get themselves registered till 16th September 2022.

Eligible Graduates:

  Ø  All Regular Graduates of Sessions 2015-2018

  Ø  All Private Graduates of Session 2015-2018 (Position Holders Only).  

Registration Procedure:

Ø  Prescribed registration form can be downloaded from the University website i.e., www.awkum.edu.pk and is also available at office of the Controller of Examinations.

Ø  The Registration form duly filled in all respects shall be submitted at the office of the Controller of Examinations before the deadline.

Ø  Prescribed registration fee of Rs. 6000/- (Rs. 2000/- refundable on return of Gown) must be deposited in any branch of the National Bank of Pakistan Account No: 004161357999 Branch Code 2233.   

Note:

The graduates who have already registered themselves in 2016 are directed to contact office of the Controller of Examinations for confirmation to attend the event latest by 16th September 2022.

Tourism & Hospitality students accomplished their summer internship within the tourism industry.

Tourism industry in general and hospitality sector in particular has the potential for significant contribution to the economic development of a country. It has been estimated that one in eleven jobs in the world is related to tourism industry. Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan (AWKUM) has established Department of Tourism & Hospitality in September 2011 with the intentions to uplift tourism industry of the country through promoting quality education and skills. However, at present the Department is lacking a learning hotel which can facilitate students for acquiring workplace essential skills. To bridge this gap and also to execute HEC undergraduate internship policy (2021), the Department has formally inked MoUs with hotels of excellent repute within the country. Students’ internship is at the heart of these MoUs which consequently providing practical experience and exposure in the hospitality sector. 

In summer 2022, a renowned hotel chain: Shangrilla Hotel & Resorts offered summer internship to our undergraduate students in their properties at Chngla Gali, Murree, Malam Jabba & Kalam. A total of twenty one students have successfully completed their internship and two of them have been offered a job placement. In addition, few of our students have individually carried out their internships in Peral Continental hotel Malam Jabba & Marriott hotel Islamabad.

MoU signed between AWKUM and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority. The Memorandum of Understanding ceremony was held in the conference room of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority. The MoU was signed by Director General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority Abid Khan Wazir and Vice Chancellor Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan Professor Dr. Zahoorul Haq.

On this occasion, the heads of both institutions, Professor Fazal Sattar Durrani, Principal Pakhtunkhwa Institute of Arts and Culture, Dr. Syed Zafarullah Bakhshali, Chairman Pashto Department, Manager Culture Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Authority Humayun Khan, Deputy Manager Literature and Language Nadeem Tucker, Manager Planning Munir Abbas, Dr. Ziaullah, Sinan, Lecturer RPCA, Dr. Naveed, Abed Mehmood and others were present.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding, the two institutions Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority and Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan will make joint efforts in the promotion of regional languages ​​including culture, architecture and fine arts in Mardan province. Speaking at the event, DG Tourism Authority Abid Khan Wazir said that Tourism Authority is taking initiatives in the hospitality sector, arts and other sectors in the province. Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan will help in promoting tourism and culture in the province.

Prof. Dr. Zahoorul Haq said that there is a Department of Tourism and Culture in Jamia Abdul Wali Khan Mardan where research work is going on and full support will be given for its promotion. Under the MoU, both institutions will promote the culture, tourism, fine arts and regional languages ​​of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. *Answer*: If you belong to far area, and cannot come to the university for interview, we may arrange it online. But, whenever needed we may call you the campus.

3. Will the examinations be completely online or on campus.

4. What is the fee structure for local/Pakistani Nationals
*Answer*: For Pakistani & Afghani students the fee for first semester is Rs.14500. Onward semesters will be charged at Rs. 12000 per semester

Advancing the capacity of Pakistan’s higher education institutions and systems to develop employable graduates

The Higher Education System Strengthening Activity (HESSA), a five-year project that was started in 2021 as a part of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), aims to increase the employability of the Pakistani workforce through trainings to enhance graduates' capacity, relevance, adequacy, and inclusivity. In order to increase access for underprivileged communities and overall student achievement after graduation, expanded remote learning, financial aid, scholarship, and career pathways initiatives have been developed.

In this respect, a three-day in-person workshop was held at PC, Bhurban, Murree on July 26–28, 2022. From each of HESSA's 15 partner universities, nominated representatives who support student services were present at this event. The goal was to formally launch a strategic engagement process with partner universities and their chosen participants, train participants in particular theme work areas, and collectively design targeted interventions for each partner university in the field of student support services.

The 39th Syndicate Meeting of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan was held under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zahoor ul Haq.

عبدالولی خان یونیورسٹی مردان کی 39ویں سینڈیکیٹ کا اجلاس وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر ظہور الحق کی زیر صدارت منعقد ہوا اجلاس میں  43ویں سلیکشن بورڈ اجلاس کی سفارشات کو منظور کیا گیا جس میں کیمسٹری ، ایگریکلچر ، میتھس اور بائیو کمیسٹری شعبہ جات کے لئے پانچ پروفیسرز  کی تعیناتی کی منظوری دی گئی جبکہ ،زراعت

،کیمسٹری،ماحولیاتی سائنس،انگلش ،ہیلتھ اینڈ فزیکل ایجوکیشن،آئی آر ، آرکیالوجی،ٹورازم،معاشیات میں 16 اسٹنٹ پروفیسرز کی تعیناتی کی منظوری دی گئی     اس کے علاوہ مختلف امور پر مشاورت کی گئی اور  سنڈیکیٹ  ممبران کو آگاہ کیا جس پر  سنڈیکیٹ ممبران نے اطمینان کا اظہار کیا
