BIC, AWKUM and BIC, GIKI organized two days training sessions.

 

The Business Incubation Center Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan in collaboration with the Catalyst (Business Incubation Center) Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI) Topi organized two days training sessions on December 20-22 at seminar hall, the Catalyst GIKI for startups of AWKUM and GIKI.  The main purpose of the training was to promote "Entrepreneurship via Establishment & Strengthening of Incubation Centers at Educational Institutions”

Session on Tuesday 20 December 2022 was delivered by Mr. Rahat Gul on “Business Proposal writing​​ for Start-Ups". During the session, the trainer discussed a step-by-step approach to develop a simple business proposal and its importance in achievement of business objectives.

Session on Thursday 22 December 2022 was delivered by Mr. M Waheed Iqbal on “Company Formation and its legal aspects for Start-Ups". During the session, the trainer discussed comparison of companies with other forms of business, the meaning of separate legal personality, limited liability, transfer of ownership and perpetual succession, definition of company and body corporate, private company and public company etc.

Startups from AWKUM were invited by GIKI Incubation Center. Coordinator BIC Mr. Shah Hussain Awan along with Mr. Shahzad Khan (IBL) accompanied the startups during the two day training sessions. Dr. Mohammad Jehangir, (Director Business Incubation Center AWKUM) thanked officials and staff of the Catalyst GIKI for providing such a great learning opportunity for BIC AWKUM startups.

IBL, AWKUM in collaboration with Business Incubation Center AWKUM organized “Marketing Gala”

 

The Institute of Business Studies & Leadership (IBL), Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) in collaboration with Business Incubation Center AWKUM organized “Marketing Gala” on December 7-8, 2022. The opening ceremony was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Saeed Islam (Director Academics AWKUM) and Mr. Zahir Shah Khan (President Mardan Chamber Commerce of Industry).

The main purpose of the event was to provide practical platform to the students to market their product and services in front of huge audience. The students were given assignments to develop a marketing plan for the product and services they wanted to offer. The students were divided in various groups for displaying their products in the stalls. The assignment included marketing research, strategy, marketing mix and sales management.

Local brands including BIC startups also placed their stalls for providing healthy competition to the students. 8 startups of BIC AWKUM participated in the event and displayed their products and services to the general public.  The delegation from Mardan Chamber of Commerce & industry visited the stalls and appreciated the efforts of Dr. Mohammad Jehangir (Director IBL), Mr. Shah Hussain Awan and Kashif Zaman (Chief Organizers) for organizing such a wonderful event for students. Such kind of events delivers a learning experience in a challenging environment for the students.

Mr. Hanif Ur Rahman from department of Computer Science, successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis.

 

Mr. Hanif Ur Rahman defended his Ph.D. thesis entitled “Offshore Outsourcing Decision of Application Maintenance: A Study from Client-Vendor Perspective” on December 16, 2022 at Department of Computer Science, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, Pakistan.

He conducted his research under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Mushtaq Raza and Dr. Palwasha Afsar. The thesis report was evaluated from Spain, Poland and University of Peshawar by Prof. Dr. Iván García-Magariño, Prof. Dr. Robertas Damaševičius and Prof. Dr. Sara Shahzad respectively. While his external examiners were Prof. Dr. Zahoor Jan Department of Computer Science, Islamia College Peshawar and Prof. Dr. Sara Shahzad Department of Computer Science, University of Peshawar.

Dr. Hanif Ur Rahman published five articles in International reputed journals having top ranking; W category in HJRS by HEC.

US Embassy and USEFP encouraged AWKUM to expand Academic Collaboration with United States Universities

 

United States Embassy and United States Education Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) encouraged Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) to expand Academic Collaboration with United States Universities

Catherine Fischer, Deputy Cultural Attache, US Embassy Islamabad expressed her views in closing ceremony in Islamabad under U.S. - Pakistan University Partnership Grants Program (UPGP), That faculty from AWKUM highly contributed to expand American studies under UPGP in the university. She shared that US Embassy and UEFP looks forward to future collaboration with AWKUM.

 In closing remarks, Mr. Shahram Niazi Program Officer, UPGP, USEFP shared his views that it was a good experience with faculty from AWKUM to introduce and expand American studies in the university. He expressed his views that USEFP will facilitate and fund faculty and students from AWKUM to get education from US universities under different scholarships programs.

Dr. Ayesha Siddiqa, Head of UPGP, QAU Islamabad pay thanks to Prof. Dr. Zahoor Up Haq Vice Chancellor AWKUM to nominate the most relevant and committed faculty to contribute to UPGP. Dr. Hussain Ali Head of Sociology Department, Dr. Abdul Shakoor Head of International relations, Mr. Azmat Ali khan Assistant Professor of Political Science, Mr. Sanan Ahmad Lecturer PCA participated in the program. At the end of ceremony excellency certificate and shields were presented to Dr. Hussain Ali and Mr. Azmat Ali Khan.

The prime motive of our life is to serve humanity

 

Beholding our duty in the recent destructive flood, the Provost office Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan tackled providing urgent care to the victims of the flood. A drive was initiated by Vice-chancellor Prof. Dr, Zahoor Ul Haq and supervised by the Director Administration, Provost office, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan.

In these activities, prominent efforts were done by Syed Najm ul Hasan Gelani. a student from the IBL - President of the Peace Building and Conflict Resolution Society. His zeal and keenness towards flood victims was just a panorama of the other level.  His efforts are recognized in the form of the “Prime Minister Flood Heroes Award” which is a token of appreciation arranged by Prime Minister Shahbaz Shareef, the Federal Ministry of Planning and Development and HEC. These heroes were selected by thoroughly looking at their innumerable struggles. He received his award from Federal Minister for Planning and Development while Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad (Chairman HEC), Shaza Fatima Khwaja (MNA Special Assistant), and Dr. Muhammad Idrees (Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan) joined hands with the encouragement of our hero.

Status of Tender Regarding "Establishment of Diagnostic Lab"

 

It is to for the information all concerned that the Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM), being the Procuring entity, has rejected all the Technical Bids received against Tender "Establishment of Diagnostic Lab" in accordance with PPRA clause 33 and 34 and KPPRA clause 46 and 47.


All parties involved are asked to pick up their sealed financial bids from the Procurement office.
