MCB Bank Conducts On-Campus Recruitment Drive at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan
The
Career Development Center (CDC), in collaboration with the Institute of
Business Studies & Leadership (IBL) at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan
(AWKUM), successfully organized an on-campus recruitment drive in partnership
with MCB Bank on May 20, 2025 at IBL.
The
primary objective of this initiative was to prepare graduating students for
batch hiring and various lateral hiring opportunities. The recruitment drive
featured a comprehensive session and interview process led by Mr. Muhammad
Imran Mansoor (Department Head, Talent Acquisition) and Ms. Sadia Saifullah
(Unit Head, Talent Acquisition North) from MCB Bank. The visiting team
evaluated students’ alignment with career opportunities at MCB and engaged in
discussions to guide them toward successful career pathways.
In
recognition of the students’ talent and potential, MCB Bank extended
approximately 20 summer internship offers to selected candidates. The visiting
officials commended the CDC and IBL teams for their excellent coordination and
hospitality.
Director
IBL, Dr. Ihtisham Khan, and Director CDC, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan,
expressed their gratitude to MCB Bank for its commitment to merit-based
recruitment and its support in identifying and nurturing emerging talent.
As
a gesture of appreciation, the MCB team presented souvenirs to Prof. Dr.
Mohammad Azam (Dean, Faculty of Business & Economics), Dr. Ihtisham Khan
(Director, IBL), Director CDC, and Mr. Ismael Afzal (Lecturer, IBL) in
recognition of their support and collaboration in organizing the event.
This
recruitment drive follows the success of the recently held Grand Career Fair,
organized by the CDC and stands as a testament to the Center’s ongoing efforts
to enhance the career readiness of AWKUM graduates.

AWKUM Business Incubation Centre Organizes Hands-On Workshop on Business Model Canvas
The Business Incubation Centre (BIC) at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) successfully conducted a dynamic one-day workshop on the Business Model Canvas, designed to equip students and aspiring entrepreneurs with essential business planning and development skills on May 19, 2025 at IBL Conference Hall, AWKUM.
The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Asif Khan, senior faculty member from the Department of Accounting and Finance, Institute of Business and Leadership (IBL). With over 10 years of experience in teaching, mentoring, and guiding startups, Mr. Khan delivered a highly engaging session focused on transforming ideas into actionable business models.
Throughout the workshop, participants explored:
· Key components of the Business Model Canvas through practical exercises
· Real-world business development strategies, from idea validation to market execution
·
Common startup challenges and practical
approaches to overcoming them
The session was
marked by interactive discussions, case studies, and collaborative group
activities, allowing participants to apply their learning in real time. The
event concluded with a Q&A segment, during which students pitched their
business concepts and received personalized feedback from the expert
facilitator.

IBL Conducts One-Day Career Readiness Workshop in Collaboration with CDC, AWKUM

University Mardan, April 16, 2025 — The Institute of
Business Studies and Leadership (IBL) organized a one-day workshop on Career
Readiness at the IBL Theater Hall in collaboration with the Career
Development Center (CDC), Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM).
The workshop aimed to equip students
with essential skills for entering the job market. It featured comprehensive
sessions on the fundamentals of career readiness, CV writing, cover letter
development, and mock interviews. A hands-on practical activity further
enhanced the participants' understanding and application of the skills learned.
The initiative reflects IBL and CDC’s
shared commitment to preparing students for successful career paths by bridging
the gap between academic learning and professional requirements.

Cleanliness Drive Organized by the Institute of Business Studies and Leadership (IB) AWKUM
The Institute of
Business Studies and Leadership (IBL) at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan
(AWKUM) organized Cleanliness Drive in the Holy month of Ramadhan (March, 2025)
promoting hygiene and environmental responsibility. Students and faculty
actively participated in cleaning classrooms, theatre halls and surrounding
areas, reinforcing the importance of a clean learning environment.
As part of the
initiative, students placed dustbins at designated locations to encourage
proper waste disposal and awareness about cleanliness. Awareness posters were
also displayed to highlight the importance of maintaining a litter-free campus.
Speaking at the event,
Director IBL expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, emphasizing its role
in creating a more appealing and conducive academic atmosphere. He assured his
full support for similar activities in the future, recognizing the students'
contributions in maintaining a clean campus. He also extended his gratitude to
the Director of Administration, AWKUM, for facilitating the event.
To acknowledge the
efforts of student volunteers, Director IBL distributed certificates of
appreciation, encouraging continued participation in such initiatives. The
event concluded on a positive note, reinforcing the commitment to cleanliness
and environmental awareness at the university.

Two-day workshop on "How to Develop an Effective Business Plan."

Center and Business Incubation Center at IBL joined forces to host a two-day
workshop on "How to Develop an Effective Business Plan." The event,
graced by Dr. Muhammad Jehangir, Director IBL as the chief guest, concluded

One Day Seminar on Marble & Granite Export Enhances Industry Collaboration
A significant event, the One Day
Seminar on Marble & Granite Export, was conducted at IBL Hall, Abdul Wali
Khan University Mardan (AWKUM). The seminar, held on October 24, 2023, brought
together participants from the Marble Industry, Government sector, and
University, fostering essential discussions on the marble and granite export
sector.
Event Highlights:
The seminar provided a platform for
industry leaders to engage in comprehensive discussions regarding marble and
granite exports. Guest Speaker Engr. Said Muhammad, Vice Chairman KPBOIT,
shared invaluable insights, enriching the event with his expertise. During the
seminar, shields of recognition were distributed, and certificates of
appreciation were bestowed upon key contributors, acknowledging their pivotal
roles in advancing the marble & granite sector.

A significant achievement of the seminar was the signing of a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) between AWKUM and All Pakistan Marble Industries

within the marble and granite sector. The collaboration encompasses joint
research initiatives, effective communication channels, and intern support
programs. AWKUM pledges its support in mineral exploration, testing, and
digital marketing for APMIA, facilitating mutual growth and development in the
sector.

The Institute of Business Studies & Leadership (IBL) in
collaboration with Business Incubation Center (BIC) Abdul Wali Khan University
Mardan (AWKM) organized an Industrial Visit on January 05, 2023 for BBA 7th
semesters at Fassgen Pharma, Hattar Industrial Estate Harripur.
The main objective of the visit was to let the students observe,
learn and compare theoretical knowledge with practical working environment of
business. Industry academia linkage is always important for the learning of
students. The management team of Fassgen
Pharma briefed the students on supply chain management and Sales management.
The CEO has shared with students his success story as an entrepreneur. The
students were given visits to various units of the firm.
At the end, Mr. Shah Hussain Awan (BL) presented shield to the CEO
Mr. Shafiq Nawab on behalf of Dr. Mohammad Jehangir (Director IBL).

IBL, AWKUM in collaboration with Business Incubation Center AWKUM organized “Marketing Gala”
The Institute of Business Studies & Leadership (IBL), Abdul
Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) in collaboration with Business Incubation
Center AWKUM organized “Marketing Gala” on December 7-8, 2022. The opening
ceremony was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Saeed Islam (Director Academics AWKUM)
and Mr. Zahir Shah Khan (President Mardan Chamber Commerce of Industry).
The main purpose of the event was to provide practical platform to
the students to market their product and services in front of huge audience. The
students were given assignments to develop a marketing plan for the product and
services they wanted to offer. The students were divided in various groups for
displaying their products in the stalls. The assignment included marketing
research, strategy, marketing mix and sales management.
Local brands including BIC startups also placed their stalls for providing healthy competition to the students. 8 startups of BIC AWKUM participated in the event and displayed their products and services to the general public. The delegation from Mardan Chamber of Commerce & industry visited the stalls and appreciated the efforts of Dr. Mohammad Jehangir (Director IBL), Mr. Shah Hussain Awan and Kashif Zaman (Chief Organizers) for organizing such a wonderful event for students. Such kind of events delivers a learning experience in a challenging environment for the students.

The
Business Incubation Center Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan in collaboration
with E-Merchant Pakistan organized a one day seminar on Ecommerce platform i.e.
“DARAZ” on November 10, 2022 at IBL
AWKUM. The main purpose of the seminar was to teach the students on
how to set up online business and start earning money online on DARAZ.
Mr.
Abbas Nisar CEO (E-Merchant) delivered a brief presentation on the ecommerce
field and step by step account opening at DARAZ. The student took keen interest
in the seminar. A detailed question answer session was held at the end of the
seminar. Coordinator BIC MR. Shah Hussain Awan facilitated the event.
In
the end Dr. Mohammad Jehangir, Director Business Incubation Center AWKUM
thanked E-Merchant officials for providing
such a fruitful learning opportunity for AWKUM students in the field of
ecommerce & entrepreneurship.

IBL, AWKUM organized “Orientation Session for new students”
The Institute of Business Studies & Leadership (IBL), Abdul
Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) organized “Orientation Session for new
students” at IBL on November 07, 2022.
Students and faculty of IBL participated in the event. The main
purpose of the event was to brief the new students on semester rules,
scholarships, code of conduct, Library information and sports facilities. Mr. Shah Husain Awan provided information
about IBL and its programs. Dr. Ihtisham Khan conducted detailed presentation
regarding the semester rules.
In his concluding remarks, the Chief Guest, Dr. Mohammad Jehangir (Director
IBL, AWKUM) appreciated the efforts of the organizers for organizing an
important orientation session for the students.
He advised new students to follow the University rules in true spirit. He
extended his full support for providing academic and co-curricular environment
for learning and grooming.
In the end, the chief guest distributed shields and certificates to
admission committee for their excellent performance during the admission
process Fall, 2022

One day seminar on “Islamic Banking & Finance” Conducted at IBL
The Institute of Business Studies & Leadership (IBL) in
collaboration with Center for Excellence in Islamic Finance (CEIF), IMSCIENCES Peshawar
organized one day seminar on October 20, 2022 at IBL Hall on “Islamic Banking
& Finance”. The students and faculty
were given brief presentation on various aspects of Islamic banking.
The session was started with a recitation from the Holy Quran. Mr.
Adnan Malik, Industry Chair, Center of Excellence for Islamic Finance (CEIF),
Institute of Management Sciences Peshawar along with Dr. Arif Hussain,
Assistant Professor, IBL welcomed the participants.
Mr. Mohsin Zafar and Mufti Usman from Bank Alfalah were invited as
guest speakers. The event was facilitated by Dr. Arif Hussain and Mr. Shah
Hussain Awan at IBL. In the end, brief question answer session was held. The
guest speakers addressed all the questions.

Workshop series on "Pedagogical Skills, Curriculum Tuning and Research skills development”
The workshop series on "Pedagogical Skills, Curriculum Tuning
and Research skills development” was organized under the US-PAK Universities
Grants Program Funded by United States Government & Administered by United
States Educational Foundation Pakistan (USEFP) from August 18, to September 01, 2022 at the Conference Hall
Garden Campus, and Economics Department of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan.
Faculty members from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business as well as the
postgraduate students have attended these workshops.
The aims of these workshops were to develop skills of the faculty
and students of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan on those themes. Dr. Muhammad
Jehangir (Project Lead) welcomed the participants and presented the importance
of the project. He further thanked US Government and USEFP for providing these
amazing learning opportunities and to enhance the capacity building of our
faculty and Students. Ms Irum Khan PhD. (GM Academics, Roots International
Islamabad) conducted the workshop through a detailed presentation on case based
teaching methods. This project also collaborates with the faculty members from
local universities (Bacha khan University Charsadda, Buner University, Mardan
Women University, Swabi Women University, Swabi University and Abdul Wali Khan
University Mardan (AWKUM) on pedagogy skills, curriculum development and
tuning, research development and networking. AWKUM is a leading University in
the project.

One day seminar on Ecommerce (Freelancing)
The
Business Incubation Center in collaboration with Enablers Pakistan organized a
one day seminar on Ecommerce (Freelancing) on October 11, 2021 at IBL AWKUM. The
main purpose of the seminar was to teach the students on how to set up online
business and start earning money online.
Enablers
Trainer’s from KPK delivered a brief presentation on the ecommerce field and
freelancing. In the end Dr. Mohammad Jehangir, Director Business Incubation
Center AWKUM thanked Enablers for providing such a fruitful opportunity for
AWKUM students in the field of ecommerce. He welcomed Enablers for signing MoU
with BIC AWKUM for strengthening digital entrepreneurship for the student’s
benefit.
