The
Career Development Center (CDC), in collaboration with the Institute of
Business Studies & Leadership (IBL) at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan
(AWKUM), successfully organized an on-campus recruitment drive in partnership
with MCB Bank on May 20, 2025 at IBL.
The
primary objective of this initiative was to prepare graduating students for
batch hiring and various lateral hiring opportunities. The recruitment drive
featured a comprehensive session and interview process led by Mr. Muhammad
Imran Mansoor (Department Head, Talent Acquisition) and Ms. Sadia Saifullah
(Unit Head, Talent Acquisition North) from MCB Bank. The visiting team
evaluated students’ alignment with career opportunities at MCB and engaged in
discussions to guide them toward successful career pathways.
In
recognition of the students’ talent and potential, MCB Bank extended
approximately 20 summer internship offers to selected candidates. The visiting
officials commended the CDC and IBL teams for their excellent coordination and
hospitality.
Director
IBL, Dr. Ihtisham Khan, and Director CDC, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan,
expressed their gratitude to MCB Bank for its commitment to merit-based
recruitment and its support in identifying and nurturing emerging talent.
As
a gesture of appreciation, the MCB team presented souvenirs to Prof. Dr.
Mohammad Azam (Dean, Faculty of Business & Economics), Dr. Ihtisham Khan
(Director, IBL), Director CDC, and Mr. Ismael Afzal (Lecturer, IBL) in
recognition of their support and collaboration in organizing the event.
This
recruitment drive follows the success of the recently held Grand Career Fair,
organized by the CDC and stands as a testament to the Center’s ongoing efforts
to enhance the career readiness of AWKUM graduates.
Mardan, May 26, 2025 —
The closing ceremony of the National Outreach Faculty Programme, organised
under the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), Islamabad, in
collaboration with Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM), was held at the
Conference Room, Garden Campus.
The ceremony was graced
by Prof. Dr. Jamil Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, AWKUM; Dr. Noor Amna Malik, Managing
Director, NAHE; Prof. Dr. Inayat Ullah Babar, Vice Chancellor, University of
Engineering and Technology, Taxila; Mr. Hassan Khan, Registrar and Training
Coordinator; and Mr. Ghulam Murtaza Goraya, Assistant Director, HEC.
Mr. Hassan Khan briefed
the audience that the university successfully conducted a month-long training
programme from April 28 to May 23, 2025, under which 30 Lecturers and Assistant
Professors participated. The sessions were led by esteemed academicians and
Vice Chancellors, covering nine comprehensive modules designed to enhance
teaching and academic leadership skills.
In his opening remarks,
Prof. Dr. Jamil Ahmad expressed gratitude to the NAHE team for extending this
valuable opportunity to AWKUM faculty. He emphasized the critical role of
teachers in higher education and encouraged faculty members to apply the knowledge
gained during training and disseminate it within their departments. He
reaffirmed that the core mission of any university is to serve its students as
the primary stakeholders.
Dr. Noor Amna Malik
underscored the importance of such andragogical training initiatives in
empowering faculty. She lauded the enthusiasm and active participation of AWKUM
faculty and described the trained participants as ambassadors of academic
excellence, urging them to implement best practices within their teaching
environments.
The ceremony concluded
with the distribution of certificates by the Vice Chancellor and Managing
Director NAHE. As a token of appreciation, souvenirs were presented to the
distinguished guests.
The Business Incubation Centre (BIC) at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) successfully conducted a dynamic one-day workshop on the Business Model Canvas, designed to equip students and aspiring entrepreneurs with essential business planning and development skills on May 19, 2025 at IBL Conference Hall, AWKUM.
The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Asif Khan, senior faculty member from the Department of Accounting and Finance, Institute of Business and Leadership (IBL). With over 10 years of experience in teaching, mentoring, and guiding startups, Mr. Khan delivered a highly engaging session focused on transforming ideas into actionable business models.
Throughout the workshop, participants explored:
· Key components of the Business Model Canvas through practical exercises
· Real-world business development strategies, from idea validation to market execution
·
Common startup challenges and practical
approaches to overcoming them
The session was
marked by interactive discussions, case studies, and collaborative group
activities, allowing participants to apply their learning in real time. The
event concluded with a Q&A segment, during which students pitched their
business concepts and received personalized feedback from the expert
facilitator.

This initiative
reflects BIC-AWKUM’s ongoing commitment to fostering innovation,
entrepreneurship, and leadership among youth in the region. The workshop not
only enhanced participants’ understanding of business model frameworks but also
encouraged them to think strategically and creatively about launching their
ventures.
The Department of International Relations, AWKUM in collaboration with 'YFK–International Kashmir Lobby Group, Islamabad' organized a One-Day Seminar on "Kashmir: A Case Study in Denied Self-Determination and Regional Stability" (Dated: Wednesday, May 21st, 2025)
His research, conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Abdul Wadood, was
titled “Identification of New and Potent Urease Inhibitors via QSAR-Based
Virtual Screening, Molecular Docking, and Molecular Dynamics Simulation.”
The study focused on the computational identification of novel therapeutic
agents, utilizing modern drug discovery techniques such as QSAR modeling,
molecular docking, and molecular dynamics simulations to explore effective
urease inhibitors.
The thesis was evaluated by Dr.
Tauseef Rehana from Women University Mardan, who served as the external
examiner for the defense proceedings.
Prof. Dr. Abdul Wadood praised the
quality of Mr. Saifullah’s research and highlighted its potential impact in the
field of computational biochemistry and drug discovery. He emphasized the
importance of integrating computational tools into biomedical research to
accelerate therapeutic innovation.
The successful defense of Mr.
Saifullah’s thesis is a proud moment for the Department of Biochemistry,
reflecting its ongoing commitment to academic excellence and cutting-edge
scientific research. The university community congratulates Mr. Saifullah on this
commendable milestone and wishes him continued success in his future scholarly
endeavors.
