AWKUM Celebrates 14th August with Green AWKUM, Green Pakistan Initiative

 

On 14th August, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) marked Pakistan's Independence Day with a series of patriotic and environmentally-focused activities. The celebration began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the National Anthem and a flag-hoisting ceremony. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tahir, Vice-Chancellor of AWKUM, delivered an inspiring speech emphasizing the importance of national unity and the role of education in nation-building. He highlighted that our independence was achieved through immense sacrifices and underscored that it is now our duty to work for the betterment of the country. Prayers for the prosperity of the nation and the University were also offered.

The event featured speeches and presentations by students, who expressed their love for the country through passionate performances of national anthems. Following the formal proceedings, the University Advancement Cell & Career Development Centre, in collaboration with the Directorate of Administrations, launched a plantation drive under the theme "Green AWKUM, Green Pakistan."

The plantation drive was supported by generous donations of plants from Arctic Associates-2, Walls Ice Cream Pakistan, and Zama Kor, with co-sponsorship from the District Youth Office Mardan. The drive was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor, with active participation from faculty, staff, and students.

In his closing remarks, the Honorable Vice-Chancellor presented certificates of appreciation to the sponsors and students who contributed to the event's success. He emphasized the critical importance of plantation for the survival of future generations, announcing that the drive would continue throughout the week as part of the University's ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability.

CDC in collaboration with QEC AWKUM, organized a session on “THE Impact Ranking Methodology”

 

The Career Development and University Advancement Cell in collaboration with Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, organized a session on “THE Impact Ranking Methodology” on October 24, 2022 at Conference Hall, Garden Campus. The session was attended by Heads of Departments and concerned Heads of Sections.

Dr. Jehangir Khan, University of Malakand conducted the session as resource person. He briefed the participants regarding the methodology of Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking. The session was completely interactive. The event was facilitated by Dr. Beenish Khurshid (Deputy Director, CDAC) and Mr. Shah Hussain Awan (Deputy Director QEC). In the end, Dr. Shaista Irshad Khan, Director (CDAC) and Director QEC, Mr. Sayim Sohail presented the shield to the resource person.

Times Higher Education Emerging Economies Universities Rankings 2021

 


By the grace of Allah, the almighty, another accomplishment is made. Abdul Wali Khan University (AWKUM) is ranked 150th by Times Higher Education Emerging Economies Universities Rankings 2021.

Times Higher Education (THE) has today announced the result of its Emerging Economies ranking, which includes institutions in countries or regions classified by the London Stock Exchange’s FTSE Group as “advanced emerging”, “secondary emerging” or “frontier”. The ranking demonstrates the growing strength of secondary emerging countries, heavily driven by Pakistan, China, and Russia. A record, 606 universities ranked this year from 48 countries and regions, 14% more than in 2020 (533), as 86 universities, including AWKUM, made their debut. It is very positive to that Pakistan and is making significant gains from the secondary emerging markets. About 77% of universities (10 out of 13) from Pakistan improved or maintained their previous ranking positions. Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan debuts at 150th. China grabbed the top Five positions while Only two universities from Pakistan made their way to top 150 universities worldwide. Quaid-e Azam University Islamabad secured 105th position and AWKUM , an eleven years old university and competing for the first time, went straight to 150th position.

The Times Higher Education (THE) provides Internationally acclaimed and trusted World University Rankings based on performance data.

Earlier this year THE announced World’s Universities Ranking 2020-2021 and according to that AWKUM is No.1 University in Pakistan and 510th in overall world ranking (among 1527 institutions from 93 countries). Based on our research we are ranked 200th in world citation ranking.  The university is also ranked 24th in Asia (in 32 countries and 627 universities) and 3rd in South Asia (in 5 countries and 95 universities). This achievement indicates that our faculty is tremendously talented, dedicated and productive as teachers and researchers.

It is important to mention that participation in ranking enables an institution not only to brag but also to ascertain the areas that need to be strengthened. This is where the vision of the leadership takes the institution to new heights.

On Campus Recruitment Drive By Kashf Foundation


The office of Career Development Centre (CDC) and  Institute of Business Studies & Leadership (IBL) has organized “On Campus Recruitment Drive” in collaboration with “KASHF Foundation” on June 26, 2018 for the positions of Management Trainee Officer (MTO) & Business Development Officers (BDO).

The “KASHF Foundation” HR team visited the university for the said recruitment drive and started the interview session at Institute of Business Studies & Leadership at 10:30am.

The multiple positions of Management Trainee Officer (MTO) & Business Development Officer (BDO) were created with reference to previous relations among the two offices for the final year students and alumni of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan whose names were shortlisted by the employer foundation.

Before starting the interviews, the HR team delivered a session on Career Management and CV writing. About 74 students were interviewed from different departments including alumni in which 17 females were hired from Mardan region.
On the occasion, faculty members of Institute of Business Studies & Leadership, Deputy Director CDC Ms. Faiza Faiz Malik were present.
