AWKUM conducted Self-Institutional Performance Evaluation (IPE)

 

Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) conducted Self-Institutional Performance Evaluation (IPE) on January 16-18, 2023. The aim of the IPE is to self-evaluate the performance & efficiency of the University based on 11 Quality Standards provided in the IPE Manual of HEC. The standards outline major areas that Higher Education Institutions need to focus on in order to ensure good governance and quality education.

The IPE panel comprised of one external reviewer i.e. Mr. Imran Ullah Marwat, Director QAC (HED), Peshawar and three internal reviewers including Dr. Abdul Ghaffar (Chairperson, Department of Education), Director and Deputy Director QEC. The self-review process was facilitated by the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) AWKUM.

The IPE commenced with a detailed introduction of the Self-IPE processes and a presentation on the Compliance Report of IPE 2021-22 delivered by Mr. Sayim Sohail (Director QEC). The IPE panel then carefully examined the University Portfolio Report (UPR) and supporting documentation for answers to the questions standard wise.

Meetings with departmental academic and administrative heads, faculty members as well students were scheduled for the IPE's second day in order to assess the capacity of the institution's operational procedures. In order to observe the facilities offered on campus, the panel also took a tour of various departments, library, classrooms, and labs. The panel appreciated the efforts of AWKUM in enhancing the culture of quality. The panel members utilized the last day in preparation and completion of the IPE reports.

CDC in collaboration with QEC AWKUM, organized a session on “THE Impact Ranking Methodology”

 

The Career Development and University Advancement Cell in collaboration with Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, organized a session on “THE Impact Ranking Methodology” on October 24, 2022 at Conference Hall, Garden Campus. The session was attended by Heads of Departments and concerned Heads of Sections.

Dr. Jehangir Khan, University of Malakand conducted the session as resource person. He briefed the participants regarding the methodology of Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking. The session was completely interactive. The event was facilitated by Dr. Beenish Khurshid (Deputy Director, CDAC) and Mr. Shah Hussain Awan (Deputy Director QEC). In the end, Dr. Shaista Irshad Khan, Director (CDAC) and Director QEC, Mr. Sayim Sohail presented the shield to the resource person.

QEC organized a one day workshop on "How to write a research proposal/thesis"

 

The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) organized a one day workshop on "How to write a research proposal/thesis" on November 09, 2020 in the Conference hall Garden Campus for the Faculty of Social Sciences, Business & Economics and Arts & Humanities.

The nominated faculty members participated in the workshop.  Director QEC AWKUM formally welcomed and briefed the participants regarding objectives of the workshop.

Dr. Mohammad Azam of Department of Economics delivered detailed and comprehensive presentations on research proposal writing and also briefed the audience on how to publish article in good referred journals. 

Addressing at the concluding ceremony, Director Academics Prof. Dr. Saeed Islam strongly advised faculty members to bring quality in the research and publications. He shared the great news with faculty members that AWKUM has been ranked 200^th in Times Higher Education based on citations. Prof. Dr. Zahid Marwat (Dean Faculty of Social Sciences) also addressed the session and advised QEC to arrange the same workshops for postgraduate scholars as well.

At the end, certificates were distributed among the participants.

QEC (AWKUM), Organized One Day Workshop For The Focal Persons of Online Teacher Evaluation Software

The QEC Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) has organized one day workshop/consultation session for the Focal persons of Online Teacher Evaluation Software on November 5, 2020 at 11:30 AM in the Conference Hall, Garden Campus.  Prof. Dr. Waheed Murad (Director QEC) welcomed all the participants. The purpose of this workshop was to train the focal persons of all departments.

The software developers Mr. Mansoor bahadur and Umar Khan gave a detailed presentation on various sections of the software like adding faculty and student’s data etc. The participants took keen interest in the session. Deputy Director QEC Mr. Shah Hussain Awan provided a detail presentation on the current status of evaluation completed by various departments.

One Day Seminar On "Uplifting The Quality of Higher Education Through Innovation Strategies"

The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) arranged a seminar on “Uplifting the Quality of Higher Education through Innovative Strategies” on December 19, 2019. Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad (EX Vice Chancellor), University of Science and Technology Abbottabad was the keynote speaker. The Director QEC, Prof. Dr. Waheed Murad, welcomed the honorable guests and participants in his remarks on quality education. A large number of faculty and members of Program Teams and Assessment Teams (PT/AT) of different departments participated in the session.

“The inception of knowledge driven economies provided basis for the establishment of Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan in 2002. HEC reformed the higher education system based on the world’s leading US higher education. The aim of the reformed system was to improve quality at par with the developed world. During the session, the speaker highlighted the innovative but simple strategies for the uplifting of quality of higher education at par with the developed world.

Addressing to the closing ceremony, the chief guest Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khurshid Khan (Vice Chancellor AWKUM) highly appreciated the efforts of QEC for organizing such an important seminar for faculty members. He said that conducting such seminars will create awareness about the need of quality education in the universities.

In the end Prof. Dr. Aurangzeb Khan (Dean Faculty of Physical & Numerical Sciences) presented a vote of thanks to the guests and participants.

One day Seminar on "Self-Assessment Report Writing"

One day meeting/seminar on "Self-Assessment Report Writing" was organized by Quality Enhancement Cell AWKUM on April 26, 2019 at the Conference Hall Garden Campus. Program Team (PT) members from various targeted programs attended the workshop.

The workshop started with recitation from the Holy Quran. Director QEC Prof. Dr. Waheed Murad welcomed the participants. Mr. Shah Hussain Awan (DD QEC) conducted the workshop through detailed presentation on Self-Assessment Report writing. The PT members were given detailed information regarding self-assessment process.

 In the end, Director QEC, thanked all the PT members for participation. He stressed on the in time submission of SARs. He also assured PT members that QEC office will facilitate them in all academic activities because PT members act as a backbone for QEC in managing all activities related to departmental programs.

One Day Consultation Session for QEC Coordinators and Focal Persons

The QEC Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) in collaboration with Higher Education Archives & Library Department (HED) KP has organized one day seminar/consultation session for QEC coordinators/Focal persons on April 18, 2019 11 am in the Conference Hall, Garden Campus.  Director Quality Assurance from HED KP Mr. Imran Ullah Khan Marwat and various coordinators of affiliated colleges attended the seminar. The purpose of this meeting was to establish Quality Assurance Cells in the affiliated colleges.

Director QEC, Prof. Dr. Waheed Murad welcomed participants and thanked them for sparing time to attend the meeting. He informed participants that the purpose of the meeting is to assess quality of education at colleges affiliated with AWKUM. Deputy Director QEC Mr. Shah Hussain Awan gave a detailed presentation on the role and functions of QEC. Director QA, HED also briefed the participants regarding HED support for bringing improvement in quality of education. He also apprised that this meeting aimed to initiate a consultative process with colleges and how to move forward.

QEC, AWKUM Organized a One Day Workshop on "Turnitin Software and HEC Plagiarism Policy"

The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) organized a one day workshop on "Turnitin Software and HEC Plagiarism Policy" on March 19, 2019  in the Library Hall Garden Campus.

 Focal persons from various departments participated in the workshop.  Director QEC AWKUM formally welcomed and briefed the participants regarding the objectives of the workshop. He assured his full support for facilitating faculty and students.

 Dr. Sajjad Ahmad Khan, Associate Professor of Statistics, Islamia College University Peshawar and Dr. Izaz Ur Rehman, Assistant Professor of Computer Science, AWKUM delivered detailed and comprehensive presentations on HEC Plagiarism Policy at institution level and Turnitin usage. 

Addressing at the concluding ceremony, the honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khurshid Khan gave a comprehensive address about implementation of HEC Plagiarism Policy. He strongly advised focal persons to extend outcomes of the workshop with all faculty members. He further advised QEC to arrange the same workshops for graduate students as well.

Orientation Session for Newly Registered Students of UCW

For newly registered students of UCW an orientation session was arranged by Ms. Naseem Rafiq, Principal/Dy. Provost (Female) at University College for Women (AWKUM) with the collaboration of QEC, AWKUM. 

Mr. Shah Hussain conducted a session about semester system and rules. All the teachers of BS English introduce themselves with the students and provide relevant information about the courses.
