AWKUM Advances Digital Transformation with Transparent Faculty Recruitment

Digitizing Recruitment, Strengthening Merit

In major steps towards digital transformation and under the visionary leadership of Prof. Dr. Jamil Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) has announced the Provisional Eligibility and Merit Lists for faculty positions advertised under Advertisement Nos. 60 (2025), 61 (2025), and 62 (2025), published on September 6, 2025.

All applications received through the University’s online recruitment portal by the prescribed closing date were scrutinized by the Scrutiny & Quantification Committee strictly in accordance with the relevant statutes, rules, and advertised eligibility criteria. This fully digital scrutiny process reflects the University’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and merit-based governance.

The Provisional Eligibility and Merit Lists have been uploaded to the University’s official recruitment portal. Applicants are advised to check their status by visiting:

Significant Agreement Between Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan and Hebei Agricultural University, China

 

Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) and Hebei Agricultural University (HEBAU), China, have formally signed an important agreement for the establishment of the China–Pakistan Yeast Biotechnology Joint Research Center. The purpose of this agreement is to promote collaborative scientific research between the two universities, particularly in the fields of agricultural biotechnology and yeast biotechnology.

Under the agreement, both institutions will jointly establish a research laboratory that will facilitate advanced research activities, joint research programs, academic conferences, exchange of scientific information, and the exchange of scientists and experts. The laboratory will be jointly supervised by nominated Co-Directors from both universities.

The agreement also includes clauses related to Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). According to these provisions, the outcomes of joint research activities will be jointly owned by both institutions, while the rights of independently conducted research will remain with the respective institution.

The agreement has come into effect immediately upon signing and will remain valid for a period of four years.

The agreement was signed on behalf of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Jamil Ahmad, and on behalf of Hebei Agricultural University by the Director, International Office. The signing ceremony was attended by Director ORIC Dr. Tariq Mahmood, Additional Director QEC Abrar Hussain Umarzai, Assistant Professor Zia-ul-Islam, and Professor Dr. Rahim Sher.

This agreement is being regarded as a significant step toward further strengthening higher education and research collaboration between Pakistan and China.

Meeting of Vice Chancellor AWKUM Prof. Dr. Zahoor Ul Haq With Fair And Exhibition Committee of MCCI

 

A meeting of the Fair and Exhibition Committee of Mardan Chamber of Commerce & Industries (MCCI) was held with the Vice Chancellor Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, Prof. Dr. Zahoor ul Haq on January 19, 2021 in the Garden Campus. The delegation of MCCI was headed by Mr. Zahir Shah Khan (President MCCI). The main objective of the meeting was to strengthen the university-industry linkages. Both parties agreed on facilitating research and development (R&D) activities. In this connection, Mr. Asghar Khan Utmankhel (Convener of the Fair & Exhibition Committee, MCCI) proposed to organize the Trade and Industrial Exhibition in collaboration with AWKUM in Garden Campus.


Prof. Dr. Zahid Hussain (Director ORIC), Dr. Mohammad Jehangir (Director IBL) and Mr. Shah Hussain Awan (Lecturer IBL) were nominated to represent AWKUM in the Fair and Exhibition Committee of the expo. The committee will submit the draft of various activities of the expo to the Vice Chancellor. The expo is expected to be held in mid-March, 2021 as per Government SOPs      regarding         COVID-19

1st International Conference on Medicinal Chemistry & Drug Discovery


The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) UK and RSC Pakistan organized the 1st International Conference on Medicinal Chemistry & Drug Discovery. The conference is being held at COMSTECH secretariat, Islamabad, Pakistan. The federal minister for Science Technology Mr. Azam Swati attended the inaugural session today at COMSTECH secretariat. The Vice Chancellor Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan Professor Dr. Khursheed Ahmad Khan, Vice Chancellor Women University, Swabi Professor Dr. Fatima Khanzadi Khattak, Coordinator COMSTECH, Khursheed Hasnain, Chairman Department of Pharmacy Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad Dr. Gul Majeed, Dr. Ayaz conference coordinator, Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan and Dr. Asad Ali, Director ORIC, AWKUM were present on the occasion along with researchers, scientists, students and academicians from other institutions of the country. Several eminent scientists of the RSC from UK, Lebanon, Egypt, Indonesia, Germany, Algeria, Malaysia, Turkey, Palestine, Oman and other countries are attending the conference. The conference is organized by Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, Women University Swabi, Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad and the University of Punjab Lahore in collaboration with the RSC, UK and the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. Prof. Dr. Chos Bountra from Oxford University UK, Prof. Dr. Zaheer-Ul-Haq University of Karachi, Dr. Ghasan Albarghoti Birzeit University Palestine and Dr. Michael Mcdonogh from Oxford University, UK presented their papers in the 1st session of the conference which was chaired by Dr. Gul Majeed from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. The speakers talked about their research on cancer and informed the audience about the hazards and potential threats from different types of cancer as this disease claims 1 human life every 19 seconds throughout the world. The speakers insisted on the need of collaborative research work by researchers from around the world and that close liaison and linkage of industry and academia is important for quick and efficient control of this lethal disease. Members of the conference said that this international conference will be an important step towards finding solutions for cancer and other such diseases.
