AWKUM and UNFPA Pakistan Sign MoU on Gender-Based Violence Integration

 

United Nations Fund for Population (UNFPA) Pakistan and Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan signed an MOU on Gender-Based Violence integration in curriculum, Research, and Partnerships

 

UNFPA Assistant Representative Dr. Rubeena expressed her views that in Pakistan, 28% of omen aged 15-49 years have experienced physical violence while 34% of ever-married women have experienced spousal physical violence. It is alarming that among the victims, 56% women are not seeking any help and even they have not talked to anyone about the violence they faced. It is an established fact that without the support of university leaders, faculty and students it is hard to prevent gender-based violence in Pakistan. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Zahir Shah discussed that academia is one of the important places to produce better localized knowledge and evidence-informed policy for preention and response to Gender-Based Violence in Pakistan.

On the occasion, Dr. Hussain Ali Assistant Professor of Sociology expressed his views that in a few disciplines GBV-related topics are taught in gender studies courses for students' understanding but there is no specialized course on Gender-Based Violence and GBV Case Management. In the meeting he stressed the establishment of a resource lab to set a research agenda on GBV, GBViE and GBV Case Management. In Resource Lab researchers will produce research-informed policy recommendations for all government line departments and agencies to prevent and respond to GBV. To achieve gender equality and to mitigate the risk of GBV in Pakistan a Memorandum of Understanding is signed between UNFPA and Department of Sociology Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan. UNFPA will provide technical assistance to the University for Prevention of GBV in the province.

Abdul Wali Khan University and Media Matters signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

 

Abdul Wali Khan University and Media Matters for Democracy Trust Forge Partnership to Empower Future Journalists and Build the Capacity of the Journalism Students in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The Abdul Wali Khan University and Media Matters for Democracy Trust, Pakistan's leading organization for media development, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to extend their commitment to media development by including the student body enrolled in media and journalism-related programs in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region. The MOU signed by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Sultan Ayaz and the Executive Director of Media Matters for Democracy Mr. Asad Baig. Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Zahir Shah sheds light on AWKUM's contribution to research and academics. Director ORIC Dr. Tariq Mehmood and Farhad Safi, Head of the JMC, were also present on the occasion.

The partnership aims to address the challenges the Pakistani media industry faces by focusing on capacity building and creating a robust support network for aspiring journalists. Recognizing journalism as a critical pillar of democracy, Media Matters for Democracy Trust believes that nurturing young, resilient journalists equipped with diverse skills and up-to-date knowledge in modern digital journalism is essential for the media landscape of Pakistan.

Official MOU Signing Between AWKUM's Department of Psychology and MTI BKMC Mardan

 

We are delighted to announce that the Department of Psychology at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) has officially entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with MTI BKMC Mardan. This collaboration marks a significant milestone, fostering academic and research cooperation between the two institutions.

MoU signed between AWKUM and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority. The Memorandum of Understanding ceremony was held in the conference room of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority. The MoU was signed by Director General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority Abid Khan Wazir and Vice Chancellor Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan Professor Dr. Zahoorul Haq.

On this occasion, the heads of both institutions, Professor Fazal Sattar Durrani, Principal Pakhtunkhwa Institute of Arts and Culture, Dr. Syed Zafarullah Bakhshali, Chairman Pashto Department, Manager Culture Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Authority Humayun Khan, Deputy Manager Literature and Language Nadeem Tucker, Manager Planning Munir Abbas, Dr. Ziaullah, Sinan, Lecturer RPCA, Dr. Naveed, Abed Mehmood and others were present.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding, the two institutions Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority and Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan will make joint efforts in the promotion of regional languages ​​including culture, architecture and fine arts in Mardan province. Speaking at the event, DG Tourism Authority Abid Khan Wazir said that Tourism Authority is taking initiatives in the hospitality sector, arts and other sectors in the province. Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan will help in promoting tourism and culture in the province.

Prof. Dr. Zahoorul Haq said that there is a Department of Tourism and Culture in Jamia Abdul Wali Khan Mardan where research work is going on and full support will be given for its promotion. Under the MoU, both institutions will promote the culture, tourism, fine arts and regional languages ​​of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. AWKUM Signed an MoU With SDPI


Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan formally signed Memorandum of Understanding with Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI). The MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Khhurshid Khan, Vice Chancellor, AWKUM on Behlaf of AWKUM and Dr. Shafqat, Director Policy on Behalf of SDPI. The ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Zahid Marwat, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Sultan Ayaz, Dean, Faculty of Chemical & Life Sciences, Dr. Hazir Rehman, Director ORIC, Mr. Adil Khan, Registrar, Dr. Tariq Mehmud, Deputy Registrar and Dr. Muhammad Idris, Focal Person SDPI, KPk. The MoU was established due to the efforts of Dr. Muhammad Idris.
On this occasion, Dr. Shafqat, Director Policy, SDPI elaborated the approach of SDPI as the Institute acts as both a generator of original research on sustainable development issues and as an information resource for concerned individuals and institutions.
Prof. Dr. Mohammed Khurshid Khan, Vice Chancellor reiterated the importance of sustainable policy and appreciated the efforts of Dr. Muhammad Idris to bring AWKUM & SDPI closer through an MoU in the field of policy making and trainings.

AWKUM Established MOU With PIEAS For Student Internship And Research Facilitation



Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan established MoU with Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS). Prof. Dr. Aurangzeb Khan,Dean Faculty of Physical and Numerical Sciences, AWKUM and  Prof. Dr. Naseem Irfan, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, PIEAS signed the MoU.
This MoU was made possible due to sincere efforts of Dr. Gul Rooh, Associate Professor, Department of Physics. Dr. Ejaz Ahmad, Chairman Department of Physics and Dr. Hazir Rahman, Director ORIC AWKUM were also present. Both the HEI's reiterated the importance of research and stressed that excellence in research may be achieved by sharing knowledge and expertise in the greater interest of the masses. The mutual collaboration will be helpful for searching student’s placement and internship opportunities, and joint research resources utilization for the future augmentation of R &D activities.

AWKUM Signed MoU with The Smart School


AWKUM, through ORIC, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with The Smart School.
This MoU will benefit the children of AWKUM's employees by being eligible to discounts in registration fee (50%), admission fee (50%), Security fee (50%), Annual fee (50%) and tuition fees first child (20%), 2nd child (25%) and 3rd child (25%).

MOU Signed Between AWKUM and Islamic Relief Pakistan


In order to promote public awareness and research in climate change and WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) sectors, an MOU was signed between Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan and Islamic Relief Pakistan in a function organized in Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan. On behalf of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, Prof. Dr.  Muhammad Khurshid Khan Vice Chancellor and on behalf of Islamic Relief Pakistan Raza Nareju Head of Programmes signed the MOU.

Earlier, Dr. Shams Ali Baig Assistant Professor of the Department of Environmental Sciences and Mr. Raza Narejo Head of Programmes of Islamic Relief Pakistan highlighted the salient features of MoU and the possible joint engagements in public awareness and research on climate change, water, sanitation and hygiene. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khurshid Khan Vice Chancellor of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan emphasized the potential role of the universities to work for the cause of civil society and to play a role for the welfare of the people. They assured their cooperation and expressed their willingness and enthusiasm to tackle the challenges in environment and sustainability sectors which needs proper attention. Also, the worthy Vice Chancellor reiterated that the establishment of Pakhtunkhwa Economic Policy Research Institute at AWKUM in near future will play its role in formulating policies, like Climate Change policy, which will determine more clear direction towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) or agenda 2030.
