QEC-AWKUM Organizes Workshop on HEC Plagiarism Policy and Turnitin Software

The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) successfully organized a workshop on the HEC Plagiarism Policy and Turnitin Software for MS/MPhil and PhD scholars on June 30, 2025, at the Central Library, Garden Campus, Mardan.

The workshop was attended by postgraduate scholars nominated by the Chairpersons of various academic departments. The session aimed to enhance awareness and understanding of HEC Plagiarism Policy and the effective use of Turnitin software for maintaining academic integrity in research.

Dr. Shah Hussain Awan, Deputy Director QEC-AWKUM, served as the resource person for the workshop, with valuable support from his team member, Mr. Saddam Hussain. The resource person delivered a comprehensive presentation on the HEC Plagiarism Policy, engaging the participants in an interactive discussion and addressing their queries regarding policy and research.

In response to scholars’ interest and requests, it was decided that such workshops will be conducted on a quarterly basis to continuously equip postgraduate researchers with essential policies and digital tools necessary for quality research output.

AWKUM Completes Institutional Performance Self-Review, Reaffirms Commitment to Quality Education

 

Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) has successfully conducted the Self Review of Institutional Performance Evaluation (Self-RIPE) from June 18 to 20, 2025, in accordance with the revised Quality Assurance Framework (PSG-2023) of Higher Education Commission (HEC).

As part of the process, the university prepared a comprehensive Institutional Performance Report (IPR), aligned with the revised Quality Assurance Framework guidelines of the Higher Education Commission (HEC). The report included detailed responses and supporting documentary evidence for each standard.

The RIPE Committee was chaired by Dr. Muhammad Azam, Dean of the Faculty of Business & Economics. Committee members included Dr. Dost Muhammad Khan, Director QEC; Dr. Ihtisham Khan, Director IBL; and two distinguished external experts: Dr. Nauman Habib, Director QEC at the Pak-Austria Institute, Haripur, and Prof. Dr. Jehangir Khan from the University of Malakand.

During the three-day review, the panel evaluated documentation, engaged with faculty, administrative staff, and students, and conducted on-site assessments. The review team identified key areas for improvement and provided practical, actionable recommendations aimed at enhancing institutional performance.

The university administration extended full support to the panel, facilitating productive discussions focused on strengthening quality assurance mechanisms. The evaluation concluded with an exit meeting, where the Honorable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Jamil Ahmad, reaffirmed AWKUM’s commitment to continuous improvement through the Internal Quality Circle (IQC).
