PhD Thesis Defense Announcement

Mr. Hayat Bilal, a PhD candidate in Biotechnology, has successfully defended his doctoral thesis titled "Protective Effects of Helicteres Isora on Alleviation of Toxicological Parameters Associated with Metabolic Disorders and Oxidative Stress in a Diabetic Animal Model." The open defense was held today in the seminar room of the Department of Biotechnology.

His research, which resulted in the publication of three articles in well-reputed, high-impact journals, was supervised by Dr. Mubarak Ali Khan (Biotechnology, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan) and co-supervised by Dr. Syed Wadood Ali Shah (University of Malakand). The thesis was rigorously evaluated by international experts from the United Kingdom and China.

During the defense, Prof. Dr. Syed Jamal and Prof. Dr. Iqbal Munir, serving as local examiners, conducted the viva voce examination. The event was attended by faculty members and research students from various departments, who actively participated in the discussion by posing thought-provoking questions.

Dr. Mubarak Ali Khan extended his gratitude to all attendees and congratulated Mr. Hayat Bilal on successfully defending his thesis and passing the final viva examination.

This achievement, along with the impactful research contributions reflected in his publications, marks a significant milestone in Mr. Bilal's academic career. We wish him continued success in his future endeavors.

Mr. Abeer Kazmi, M.Phil Scholar of Biotechnology, Published his Research Work


Mr. Abeer Kazmi, M.Phil. student at Department of Biotechnology has published his research work in the Journal of Industrial Crops and Products (Impact Factor: 4.1). His research supervisor was Dr. Mubarak Ali Khan, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology. Mr Kazmi has recently successfully defended his final viva and sooner will be awarded M.Phil. Degree from the University.

Dr. Mubarak Ali Khan, Assistant Professor in the department of Biotechnology has published eight research articles in different International Impact factored Journals and two book chapters published by international publishers.
1.      Feasible production of biomass and natural antioxidants through callus cultures in response to varying light intensities in olive (Olea europaea. L) cult. Arbosana  in Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B (Impact factor: 3.1)

2.      Silver nanoparticles elicited in vitro callus cultures for accumulation of biomass and secondary metabolites in Caralluma tuberculate in Artificial Cells, Nanomedicine, and Biotechnology An International Journal (Impact factor: 3.1)

3.      Comprehensive investigations on anti-leishmanial potentials of Euphorbia wallichii root extract and its effects on membrane permeability and apoptosis in Comparative Immunology, Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (Impact factor: 1.9)

4.      Production of biomass and medicinal metabolites through adventitious roots in Ajugambracteosa under different spectral lights  in Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B (Impact factor: 3.1)

5.      Biosynthesis of anti-leishmanial natural products in callus cultures of Artemisia scoparia in Artificial Cells, Nanomedicine, and Biotechnology An International Journal (Impact factor: 3.1)

6.      Plant defensins: types, mechanism of action and prospects of genetic engineering for enhanced disease resistance in plants in 3 Biotech (Impact factor: 1.4)
