Career Fair Organized by Career Development Center at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan

 

The Career Development Center (CDC) of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM), in collaboration with the Institute of Business and Leadership (IBL) and the District Administration / Youth Office, organized a Career Fair on April 23, 2025, at the Museum, Garden Campus. The event aimed to connect students and graduates with potential employers, offering them career-building opportunities and exposure to industry expectations.

A total of 26 organizations from various sectors — including education, information technology, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), accounting, and management firms — participated in the Career Fair. These organizations offered both job and internship opportunities, allowing students to submit their CVs, appear for interviews, and explore diverse career pathways.

The Career Fair had a meaningful impact by providing students and graduates with a professional platform to engage with employers, understand hiring trends, and gain insight into the requirements of different industries. It helped bridge the gap between academic training and professional practice.

Honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zahir Shah graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his address, he emphasized the vital role of such initiatives in preparing students for the competitive job market. He highlighted that engaging students in real-time employer interaction fosters their confidence, improves communication skills, and provides direction for their future careers. He appreciated the efforts of the Career Development Center for organizing such a purposeful and well-coordinated event, and he extended his gratitude to all participating organizations for supporting the professional development of AWKUM students.

Mr. Zahir Shah, Group Leader, Mardan Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and General Secretary, Markaz-e-Tanzeem Tajiran Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, also addressed the gathering. He commended the University for building strong linkages between academia and industry and emphasized the importance of aligning academic curricula with market demands. He encouraged the students to actively seek opportunities for growth and assured the continued support of the local business community in promoting youth employment and entrepreneurship.

At the conclusion of the event, shields and certificates were distributed among the participating organizations and organizers in recognition of their valuable contributions and active participation in the Career Fair 2025.

Training Workshop Kicks Off Under National Outreach Program for Faculty at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan

 

A training workshop has started at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan under the National Outreach Program for Faculty, organized by the National Academy of Higher Education. The workshop is designed to enhance the professional skills of faculty members and improve the overall quality of education.

The Vice Chancellor of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, Professor Dr. Zahir Shah, graced the event as the chief guest. Other notable participants included Professor Dr. Saleem Ullah, Professor Dr. Mohammad Tahir, Professor Dr. Sher Afzal, Dr. Zubair, the representative of Higher Education Islamabad, Mr. Ghulam Gorya, and Director of CDC Dr. Shah Hussain, among others.

Training Coordinator Mr. Hassan Khan, Registrar of AWKUM, welcomed all participants and provided an overview of the workshop. In his remarks, Mr. Khan emphasized the importance of continuous professional development for faculty members and highlighted that the workshop would focus on modern teaching methodologies, research techniques, and best practices to enhance the overall teaching and learning experience at the university. He encouraged faculty members to engage fully in the workshop activities and apply the knowledge gained to improve their teaching effectiveness.

In his address, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Zahir Shah stressed the significance of such programs for the professional growth of faculty members. He noted that introducing modern teaching techniques and equipping educators with the necessary skills is crucial for maintaining high academic standards. He further emphasized that workshops like these are vital in helping faculty members adapt to the evolving educational landscape.

Mr. Ghulam Gorya, the representative of Higher Education Islamabad, shared his thoughts on the workshop's goals, underlining its aim to enhance the professional skills of faculty members and elevate the overall quality of education. He noted that the workshop would cover various academic methods, research innovations, and modern skills that would help faculty members teach more effectively.

Participants are engaging in practical experiences aimed at improving their teaching skills. They also have the opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss ways to foster collaboration with other educational institutions. The workshop has provided an excellent platform for faculty members to enhance their abilities and stay updated with the latest trends in the education sector.

The training workshop, coordinated by Mr. Hassan Khan, will continue for 18 days, offering faculty members the chance to broaden their knowledge and refine their teaching methods.

IBL Conducts One-Day Career Readiness Workshop in Collaboration with CDC, AWKUM

 

Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, April 16, 2025 — The Institute of Business Studies and Leadership (IBL) organized a one-day workshop on Career Readiness at the IBL Theater Hall in collaboration with the Career Development Center (CDC), Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM).

The workshop aimed to equip students with essential skills for entering the job market. It featured comprehensive sessions on the fundamentals of career readiness, CV writing, cover letter development, and mock interviews. A hands-on practical activity further enhanced the participants' understanding and application of the skills learned.

The initiative reflects IBL and CDC’s shared commitment to preparing students for successful career paths by bridging the gap between academic learning and professional requirements.

Mr. Ashraf Ali, Associate Professor at AWKUM, Successfully Defends PhD Dissertation under the Supervision of Dr. Abdul Shakoor, Associate Professor (Tenured), Department of IR

 

Mr. Ashraf Ali, Associate Professor, Department of Law, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan defended his PhD dissertation under the Supervision of Dr. Abdul Shakoor, Associate Professor (Tenured), Department of IR, titled “Exploring the Tension Between India and Pakistan in the Context of Kulboshan Jadhav Case: An Interpretation from International Law Perspective” scheduled on April 14th 2025 in a coherent and convincing manner. His defense was attended by external examiners as well as members of the committee constituted by the Director Academics. The examiners approved his candidature for the award of PhD in International Relations and congratulated him for successfully defending his dissertation. Apart from external examiners, the event was also attended by Dr. Rashid Ali, Dr. Sajjad Ali Khan, Dr. Abdul Shakoor, Dr. Manzoor Ahmad, Dr. Ahmad Ali, Dr. Tahir and students from across different departments within the Faculty of Social Sciences.
