Times Higher Education University Ranking ASIA-2023, AWKUM maintained its No.1 position in KP (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa)
Building
upon its enduring dedication to academic and research excellence, Abdul Wali
Khan University (AWKUM) has successfully maintained its No.1 position in
KP (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) and is currently ranked 5th in
Pakistan and 149th overall in the prestigious Times Higher
Education Asia University Rankings for the year 2023. This year’s Asia
University Rankings encompasses a total of 669 universities, marking an
increase compared to the previous year's figure of 616 universities, from 31
territories. AWKUM, a fourteen-year-old university by grabbing 149th position,
has left behind many leading universities of Pakistan.
AWKUM has also made its inaugural participation in the Times higher Education’s Impact Ranking and achieved an impressive ranking. This notable accomplishment marks a significant milestone for the university. However, we remain committed to further improvement and strive to enhance our standing in future rankings.
The
collective efforts and unwavering commitment of the faculty, staff, and
students have been instrumental in achieving this success. Despite encountering
numerous challenges, AWKUM has experienced significant growth and is now poised
to make a significant leap towards reaching new milestones. It is pertinent to
mention that participation in rankings allows an institution to identify areas
that require further enhancement. This accomplishment serves as a testament to
the exceptional talent, dedication, and productivity of our faculty members as
both educators and researchers. The visionary leadership of the institution
plays a crucial role in propelling it to greater heights. The Vice Chancellor
has prioritized research, teaching excellence, and fostering an international
perspective.

One Day Seminar on “Startup Survival Strategies & Fundraising: An Investor Perspective”
The
Business Incubation Center (BIC) Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan in
collaboration with District Youth Office Mardan organized a one day seminar on
May 31, 2023 at IBL Garden Campus for startups and aspiring entrepreneurs on “Startup
Survival Strategies & Fundraising: An Investor Perspective”
The
resource person of the seminar Mr. Syed Ommer Ammer (A successful and famous
startup of Pakistan) has delivered a brief presentation on how to pitch
effectively for attracting potential investors. As a founder and CEO of Dastaan
(Pakistan's Premier Book Publishing Platform), he shared his success story with
the students for motivational purpose.
The
student and BIC Startups took keen interest in the seminar. A detailed question
answer session was held at the end of the seminar. The Coordinator of BIC
AWKUM, Mr. Shah Hussain Awan facilitated the event.
In
the end Dr. Mohammad Jehangir, Director Business Incubation Center AWKUM
thanked Mr. Ommer Amer for conducting
such a fruitful session to AWKUM students and startups. He also thanked Mr. Usman
Khan (District Youth Officer Mardan) for empowering and facilitating the youth
activities at the university level.

Department of Tourism & Hospitality Students Engage in Vibrant Chilam Joshi Festival Celebrations at Kalash Valley, Chitral
The Chilam Joshi festival, a spring
religious ceremony of the Kalash tribe, took place at Kalash Valley, Chitral
from May 13-17, 2023, and the Department of Tourism & Hospitality students
actively participated in this exciting event. The festival is dedicated to
seeking blessings from God for the protection of herds and crops. It involves
daytime singing, dancing, and joyful family gatherings, showcasing the tribe's
vibrant cultural heritage. The festival attracted a significant number of
domestic and international visitors who joined in the celebrations at the
festival's location.
