AWKUM Students Participate in Indus Ras Expo 2026: Robotics and Autonomous Systems
The Career Counseling and Placement
Center (CCPC) facilitated the participation of students from the Departments of
Computer Science and Physics at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) in
the Indus Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS) Expo 2026, held at the
Pak-China Friendship Centre, Islamabad.
The two-day national expo,
organized by Ignite – National Technology Fund under the Ministry of
Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT), in collaboration with the
National Centre of Robotics and Automation (NCRA) and the NUST College of
Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (E&ME). brought together
universities, researchers, startups, industry leaders, policymakers, and
technology professionals from across Pakistan to showcase innovations in
robotics, artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, drone technology, and
industrial automation.
The students were accompanied by
the CCPC team, including the Director, Dr. Muhammad Bilal, and Assistant
Directors Usman Shamroz and Hazrat Bilal. During the visit, the students
explored cutting-edge technologies, interacted with researchers, entrepreneurs,
and industry experts, and gained valuable insights into the latest developments
in robotics and artificial intelligence. The visit provided an excellent
platform for networking, knowledge exchange, and fostering stronger
industry–academia collaboration. It also reflected the vision of the Vice
Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Jamil Ahmad, to equip students with the knowledge,
skills, and professional competencies required to excel in an increasingly
technology-driven and globally interconnected world, thereby enhancing their
career readiness and future employability.

Two MPhil Scholars Successfully Defend Their Theses at AWKUM
Two MPhil scholars from the Department of Botany, Ms. Hira Khan and Ms. Sonehra Khan, successfully defended their MPhil theses today under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ikramullah Khan, Professor of Botany at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) and Vice Chancellor, Hazara University, Mansehra.
The thesis defense was conducted before a panel of distinguished experts, with Dr. Laal Badshah, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, University of Peshawar, serving as the External Examiner. During the defense, both scholars presented their research findings with confidence and effectively responded to the questions and observations raised by the examination committee.
Prof. Dr. Ikramullah Khan congratulated both scholars on the successful completion and defense of their research work. He appreciated their dedication, perseverance, and academic commitment throughout their MPhil studies. He also acknowledged the valuable contribution of the external examiner in maintaining the quality and academic standards of the evaluation process.
The successful defense of these MPhil theses reflects the Department of Botany's continued commitment to promoting quality research, innovation, and academic excellence, thereby contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge and higher education at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan.

AWKUM Offers Internships to Students of Government Girls Degree College, Sheikh Maltoon, Mardan
In line with the Honorable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Jamil Ahmad's vision of fostering inter-institutional collaboration, the University Advancement & Career Development Centre (UA&CDC), Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM), facilitated the placement of 35 students from Government Girls Degree College Sheikh Maltoon, Mardan, as interns in various research laboratories of the University. These students have been facilitated in the newly established laboratory, the Mardan Research Laboratory (MRL), in the Departments of Botany and Biochemistry, as well as in various sections of the Department of Chemistry.
The UA&CDC team, including Dr. Muhammad Bilal, Director and Mr. Usman Shamroz, Assistant Director, has briefed the students on the internship policy and rules and regulations of the university. The students were also briefed on punctuality and the internship's progress.
During the 6 to 8-week internship, students will gain hands-on experience in laboratory techniques, research methodologies, scientific equipment handling, and laboratory safety practices. The program aims to enhance their practical skills, professional confidence, and career readiness by providing exposure to real-world research and laboratory environments.
This initiative reflects AWKUM’s commitment to promoting experiential learning and strengthening academic and professional collaboration with local and regional institutions.
