Students of Afghanistan are allow to attend face to face classes after decision of NCOC
In response to the request received from students of
Afghanistan to allow them to attend face to face classes after decision of NCOC
regarding resumption of academic activities and proactive step taken by
Prof. Dr. Zahoor ul Haq, the Worthy Vice
Chancellor of the University by taking up the matter with the Chairman, NCOC,
it is moment of great pleasure that the Government has allowed students from
Afghanistan to cross the border and resume academic activities. In a letter of
Home & Tribal Affairs, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, it has been
conveyed that students of Afghanistan are allowed to join their respective campuses.
The students of the University are required to complete all
their travel documents. It is mandatory for students to have negative PCR test
results as the Authorities at border shall conduct rapid COVID-19 tests and
allow only those students to cross the border who test negative. Furthermore,
all the students shall go through mandatory 10 days’ quarantine facility
arranged in the Campus as per international travel requirements.
The Vice Chancellor has directed the medical unit of the
university to establish quarantine facilities for facilitation of the students.
He showed his resolve that awkum will continue to support its students in their
academic and professional endeavours. Earlier the VC took a strong exception of
the news that some institutions are not offering internships to awkum graduates
and discriminating them in availing internships. He directed Registrar to
extend legal facilities to such students and send legal notices to the
concerned institutions. The vc directed all to help transform awkum to a
‘students centered academic institution’.
On the behalf of the students, the Vice Chancellor and
University Administration would like to thank NCOC, Government of Pakistan and
Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to hear the voice of students from Afghanistan
and taking a step facilitating their Academic activities.
