(AWKUM) is ranked 150th
by Times Higher Education
Emerging Economies Universities Rankings 2021.
Times Higher Education (THE) has today announced the result of its Emerging Economies ranking, which includes institutions in countries or regions classified by the London Stock Exchange’s FTSE Group as “advanced emerging”, “secondary emerging” or “frontier”. The ranking demonstrates the growing strength of secondary emerging countries, heavily driven by Pakistan, China, and Russia. A record, 606 universities ranked this year from 48 countries and regions, 14% more than in 2020 (533), as 86 universities, including AWKUM, made their debut. It is very positive to that Pakistan and is making significant gains from the secondary emerging markets. About 77% of universities (10 out of 13) from Pakistan improved or maintained their previous ranking positions. Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan debuts at 150th. China grabbed the top Five positions while Only two universities from Pakistan made their way to top 150 universities worldwide. Quaid-e Azam University Islamabad secured 105th position and AWKUM , an eleven years old university and competing for the first time, went straight to 150th position.

Internationally acclaimed and trusted World University Rankings based on
performance data.
Earlier this year THE announced World’s
Universities Ranking 2020-2021 and according
to that AWKUM is No.1 University in Pakistan and 510th in overall world ranking (among
1527 institutions from 93 countries). Based
on our research we are ranked 200th
in world citation ranking. The
university is also ranked 24th
in Asia (in 32 countries and 627 universities) and 3rd in South Asia (in 5 countries and 95 universities).
This achievement indicates that our faculty is tremendously talented, dedicated
and productive as teachers and researchers.
It is important to mention
that participation in ranking enables an institution not only to brag but also
to ascertain the areas that need to be strengthened. This is where the vision
of the leadership takes the institution to new heights.
An
undergrad students' team of the Department of Statistics, Abdul Wali Khan
University Mardan got 2nd position in all Pakistan International
Statistical Literacy Project (ISLP) of ISI poster competition held on Feb 18,
2021 during the 18th International Conference on Statistical
Sciences organized by Islamic Countries Society of Statistical Sciences (ISOSS)
@ Lahore. A total of 23 teams participated in the competition from all over the
country. The undergraduate team who participated in the competition were Ms.
Sheema Gul, Ms. Hifsa Mehtab, and Ms. Bushra Zia under the supervision of Dr.
Zardad Khan. The team members were led by Dr. Dost Muhammad Khan, Chairman, Department
of Statistics for this competition who urged that such competitions may be
arranged frequently in order to provide an opportunity for the talented students
to flourish.
Prof.
Dr. Saeed Islam, Dean, Faculty of Physical and Numerical Sciences congratulated
the team members and faculty for winning 2nd position in the ISLP
poster competition and added that this was really a very encouraging news for
all of including students, staff and faculty of the department of statistics.
The
Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zahoor ul Haq congratulated the team
members and the Department of Statistics for this great achievement.
AWKUM students have all the potential to produce quality research and compete
both domestically and internationally, the Vice Chancellor added.
On Thursday 25th February, 2021 the 13th foundation day of Abdul
Wali Khan University Mardan, was celebrated at Timergara Campus. The ceremony
started with the recitation of Holy Quran. The coordinator, Faculty/Staff
members and students attended this event. National anthem and university anthem
were played and followed by speeches of the Coordinator and Admin Officer. They
appreciated the consistent support of the worthy Vice Chancellor and prayed for
the bright future of the university.

تمام فیکلٹی کے سربراہان موجود تھے۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر حافظ صلاح الدین نے یونیورسٹی
کی تعمیر و ترقی اور خوشحالی کے لیے دعا مانگی وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر ظہہور
الحق نے تمام یتیم اور معذور افراد کیلئے یونیورسٹی میں مفت تعیلم کا اعلان کیا جبکہ
گارڈن کیمپس کے ہر شعبہ کوسمر وکیشن سے پہلے واٹر فلٹریشن پلانٹ لگانے کی ہدایت کی
انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ اس سال نیڈ بیسڈ سکالرشپ کے تحت طلبا اور طالبا ت کو 16کروڑ
کی ادائیگی کی گئی تمام سائنس سبجکٹ کے لئے مارچ کے مہینے میں کیمیکل کی فراہمی کو
یقینی بنایا جائے گا۔ اس مقصد کیلئے سنٹرل سائنس لیب تکمیل کے آخری مراحل میں ہے
جس کو تمام دور جدید کی ضروریات کو مدِ نظر رکھتے ہوہے ڈئیزان کیاگیا ہے یونیورسٹی
میں سیکورٹی کے حوالے سے جدید کیمرے نصب کئی گئے ہے۔ڈی وی ایم کونسل کے تمام
تحفظات کو جلد سے جلد دور کیاجائے گا اور اسی سال داخلے کئے جائینگے۔ سٹوڈنٹس
ویلفئیر اور اینڈومنٹ فیڈ کا اجراء کیا گیا ہے۔ تیر ویں یوم تاسیس کے موقع پر طلبا
ء اور طالبات کی 14مختلف سو سائٹیز سے وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر
ظہور الحق نے حلف لیاگیا اور یونیورسٹی کے12 سا لہ کارکردگی کے حوالے سے کہا کہ
یونیورسٹی میں علمی سرگرمیاں عروج پر ہیں۔ اور اس وقت یونیورسٹی میں 14ہزارطلباء و
طالبات تعلیم حاصل کر رہے ہیں۔جس میں 300پی ایچ ڈی ڈگری ہولڈرز ڈاکٹر پر مشتمل
فیکلٹی موجود ہیں۔عبدالولی خان یونیورسٹی مردان کے گارڈن کیمپس میں تعمیل کے بعد
کیمپس میں 35000 طلباء کی گنجائش ہوگی۔جبکہ موجودہ عمارت میں 14000 طلباء اعلیٰ
تعلیم حاصل کرسکتے ہیں۔ انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ عبدالولی خان یونیورسٹی کا شمار
پاکستان کی ٹاپ یونیورسٹیوں میں ہوتا ہے۔۔ اور اب ہمیں اگلے دس سال کے بارے میں
سوچنا ہوگا۔ انہوں نے فیکلٹی اور طلباء طالبات پر زور دیا کہ ہمیں یونیورسٹی کے
بارے میں سوچنا چاہئے اور ہم سب کو مل کر ٹیم ورک طرح کام کرنا ہو گاتو ہی
یونیورسٹی کوایک مظبوط ادارا بنا ئیں گے تا کہ ہماری آنے والی نسلیں اس سے فائدہ
اْٹھا سکیں۔
انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ
12سال کے محتصر سفر میں عبدالولی خان یونیورسٹی کے 6کیمپیسز نے فل پلیج یونیورسٹیز
کا درجہ حاصل کیاہے اور بین الاقوامی جریدے کے مطابق تحقیق کے حوالے سے پاکستانی
کی نمبر 1یونیورسٹی قرار دی ہے
