Cleanliness Drive Organized by the Institute of Business Studies and Leadership (IB) AWKUM
The Institute of
Business Studies and Leadership (IBL) at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan
(AWKUM) organized Cleanliness Drive in the Holy month of Ramadhan (March, 2025)
promoting hygiene and environmental responsibility. Students and faculty
actively participated in cleaning classrooms, theatre halls and surrounding
areas, reinforcing the importance of a clean learning environment.
As part of the
initiative, students placed dustbins at designated locations to encourage
proper waste disposal and awareness about cleanliness. Awareness posters were
also displayed to highlight the importance of maintaining a litter-free campus.
Speaking at the event,
Director IBL expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, emphasizing its role
in creating a more appealing and conducive academic atmosphere. He assured his
full support for similar activities in the future, recognizing the students'
contributions in maintaining a clean campus. He also extended his gratitude to
the Director of Administration, AWKUM, for facilitating the event.
To acknowledge the
efforts of student volunteers, Director IBL distributed certificates of
appreciation, encouraging continued participation in such initiatives. The
event concluded on a positive note, reinforcing the commitment to cleanliness
and environmental awareness at the university.

AWKUM Sociology Students Visit Quaid-I-Azam University for Academic and Cultural Exchange
The Department of Sociology, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan
arranged a day visit of students to the School of Sociology, Quaid-I-Azam
University, Islamabad on February 28, 2025. The visit aimed at student to
student and student to teacher academic interaction. It was a wonderful
experience for students while exchanging knowledge, enhancing social and
cultural capital, and visualizing their future path at QAU. As part of the
visit, Professor Dr. Hazir Ullah, Director School of Sociology briefed the students
about the importance of their studies, time management, experiencing
uncomforted zones, and dreaming their future goals. After the academic session
at QAU, students also had the opportunity to visit Centaurus Mall, adding a
recreational element to their trip. The visit proved to be an enriching
experience, combining academic learning with social exposure, and further
strengthening the inter-university collaboration between AWKUM and Quaid-e-Azam
University. This visit was arranged by Dr. Muhammad Bilal (Head of the
Department) and facilitated by Dr. Muhammad Zahid (BS-Coordinator), Dr.
Sanaullah (MPhil-Coordinator), Dr. Raham Zaid (PhD-Coordinator), and Dr.
Muhammad Ishaq (Incharge Examination). Additionally, the role of supporting
staff, Muhammad Sohail and Sufaid Ali also remain significant here. The
Department of Sociology is thankful to the office of Vice Chancellor and
Transport section for their support in materializing this visit.

Tree Plantation Drive Organized by the Department of Sociology, Main Campus, AWKUM
The
Department of Sociology, Main Campus, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan has
organized a Tree Plantation Drive on February 14, 2025 at Main Campus of the
University to promote environmental sustainability and awareness. The event was
led by Dr. Muhammad Bilal, Events Incharge of the Department of Sociology.
Prof. Dr. Zahir Shah, Vice Chancellor of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, and
Mr. Shahab, Community Development Officer from the KP Forest Department were
the Chief Guests.
Dr.
Syed Rashid Ali, Nominee of the Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, and Mr.
Shoukat Ali, Coordinator of the Main Campus have also participated. Moreover,
the event was attended by the Heads of the Departments of the faculty of Social
Sciences and students who actively participated in the plantation drive.
The
initiative aimed to highlight the importance of afforestation, climate change
mitigation, and a greener future. The guests emphasized the role of students
and institutions in promoting a sustainable environment. This event reinforced
the university’s commitment to ecological conservation and community
engagement, inspiring young minds to contribute positively towards environmental
protection.
At
the end, Dr. Muhammad Bilal, Head of the Sociology Department thanked all the
distinguished guests and participants, especially students from BS 2nd, 4th,
and 6thsemesters for their support and donating plants while making the
plantation drive a success.
