The 13th meeting of the Senate, Abdul Wali Khan
University Mardan, was held on June 07, 2022 under the Chairmanship of the
Minister for Higher Education, Archives & Libraries Department, Govt. of
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Kamran Bangash.
The meeting was attended by the Vice Chancellor,
AWKUM, Prof. Dr. Zahoor Ul Haq, Additional Secretary to Governor, Mr. Saif Ul
Islam, Additional Secretary Establishment, Mr. Muhammad Ayaz Khan, Speical
Secretary HED, Mr. Rashid Khan Paindakhil, Ex Secretary Law, Mr. Muhammad
Arifeen, Secretary (Retd) Public Health Department, Engr. Ahmad Jan, Mr. Zahir
Shah, Member Provincial Assembly, DG Finance, Higher Education Commission, Mr.
Ghulam Nabi, Vice Chancellor Women University Mardan, Prof. Dr. Ghazala Nizam,
Prof. Dr. Zafar Ullah Khattak, Agriculture University Peshawar, member of
Senate of the University/representative of Admin officers, Dr. Naveed Ud Din,
Lecturer IBL/representative of faculty, Mr. Qazi Sikandar Hayat,
Registrar, Mr. Sayyam Sohail and Treasurer AWKUM, Dr. Shaista Irshad
Khan.
The meeting approved Revised Estimates for the CFY
2021-22 and Budget Estimates for the FY 2022-23 of Abdul Wali Khan University
Mardan.
The University
was appreciated for its efforts of increasing revenue streams and collection
and curtailing its cost, as it presented a 0 deficit budget for the FY 2022-23
despite no increase in the recurring grant from HEC.
The total
budget of the University for the FY 2022-23 tunes to Rs. 2023 million.
During the
meeting, the Vice Chancellor, AWKUM thanked the provincial government as well
as HEC for their extended support and reiterated that the University's overall
performance as per the Times Higher Education ranking for the previous as well
as this year could not have been possible without their support. The Vice
Chancellor added that there have many several challenges when he took over
charge, one being the inability of the University to pay salaries, however they
had been addressed from time to time and this is why the University presented a
surplus revised estimates to the tune of Rs. 90.00 million and 0 deficit in its
budget estimates for FY 2022-23.
