Dr. Tahir Hussain, Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology Presented Research in The Conference “ASM Microbe 2018” held in Atlanta, USA
Dr.
Tahir Hussain, working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology
was awarded a travel grant by Health Security Partners- a Washington-based
organization, to present his research work on, “The emergence and dissemination
of superbugs in Pakistan” in the international conference “ASM Microbe 2018”,
held on June 7-11 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. ASM Microbe is one of the most
prestigious and largest conferences in microbiology.
Every summer the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) hold
annual conference which is globally regarded as the largest gathering of
scientists, researchers and students from around the world working in the
diverse disciplines of microbiology to share their research
experiences; and to devise strategies for containing
the emerging health security threats as well as to tame and engineer microbes
for the benefit of humanity.
Dr. Tahir Hussain presented
his exciting research findings at the conference, and was able to make research
collaborations with scientists from USA and Canada, which will not only pave the
ways for collaborative research work but will also be of
help in training opportunities for graduate students of Abdul Wali Khan
University Mardan.

One Day Seminar Regarding Technology Development Fund (TDF)
The Higher
Education Commission of Pakistan aims at strengthening academia and industry
linkage and has initiated a program “Establishment of Technology
Development Fund for Academia and Industry Joint Venture Projects to Introduce
New Technologies in Pakistan”. The project has already completed two
rounds of application and HEC has awarded TDF grants to 126 proposals out of
392 received. The 3rd call for proposals has already been
advertised and the last date of proposals is August 30, 2018.
I am pleased to
share with you that we are holding a one day seminar regarding Technology
Development Fund (TDF) on July 03, 2018 at Abdul Wali Khan University
Mardan. The officials from Higher Education Commission of Pakistan
(HEC) will enlighten the audience on how to pursue with Technology Development
Fund (TDF). The seminar is intended to create awareness amongst the researchers
and faculty of specially AWKUM and in general all the universities of Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa (KP) which, indeed, is a step forward to bridge the gap between
academia and industry.
Therefore, I am

Mr. Jehangir Khan, lecturer in
Zoology Department UCSS, has published a chapter (Assessing Autophagy in Sertoli Cells) in a book
(Sertoli Cells, Methods and Protocols) with scientists from different
universities, in Methods Mol Biol.
