College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, AWKUM, Celebrated World Rabies Day

 

College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan celebrated World Rabies Day on September 28, 2023. World Rabies Day (WRD), established by the Global Alliance for Rabies Control (GARC) and recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) every September 28, is a transcendental day to promote the fight against this disease and reinforce awareness about its prevention. In this regard, WRD was observed followed by a walk in AWKUM campus to create awareness about this deadly disease and its control and prevention up to zero percent as the target set by WHO. The walk was led by Prof. Dr. Sher Bahadar Khan,  Principal,  CVS & AH,  AWKUM, and saw active participation from both students and faculty members.  At the conclusion of the walk, Prof. Dr. Sher Bahadar Khan addressed the participants, imparting valuable information about rabies, emphasizing the importance of responsible pet ownership, and promoting awareness on how to protect both human and animal lives from this deadly disease. This event stood as a testament to the commitment of CVS & AH AWKUM towards safeguarding public health and animal welfare.

Newspaper Cutting Regarding College of Veterinary Sciences


 In pursuance to the decision of Honble Peshawar high court in writ petition number 1498/2019 titled Ashfaq Ahmad vs Awkum and others, the delegation of Gomal university D I khan comprise of Registrar Gomal university,Dean and Director visited Abdul Wali khan university Mardan wherein, at the secretariat of Vice chancellor AWKUM,  both the parties reached to an agreement that total 89 students of  Batch one and batch two  of college of veterinary sciences and animal husbandry Awkum will be transferred to Gomal university as per orders of high court.  Students will be facilitated by Both the parties to ensure their further studies and meanwhile the awkum administration in coordination with the college of veterinary sciences and animal husbandry will work towards the deficiencies pointed out by the Council concerned. Abdul wali khan university Mardan has completed most of the tasks pinpointed by council and will soon complete the rest of the deficiencies so that college is to be recognized.

One Day Hands on Training Workshop on “Role of Biosafety and Biosecurity in Life Sciences Research”



College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry in collaboration with Pakistan Biological Safety Association (PBSA) and ORIC, AWKUM is going to organize One Day Hands on Training Workshop on “Role of Biosafety and Biosecurity in Life Sciences Research” at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan. The objectives of the workshop are to develop skills and awareness about biosafety, biosecurity and biowaste managment among students, researchers and early career scientists.

Dr. Hammad Ullah of CVAH, Published a Research Paper


Dr. Hammad Ullah of College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry has published a research paper in Italian Journal of Animal Science titled “Effect of yeast-based selenium on blood progesterone, metabolites and milk yield in Achai dairy cows”. Impact factor of the journal is 1.265.

One Day Seminar "Students Awareness On Use Of Medicinal Preparation For Livestock Sponserd By Nawan Laboratories (PVT) LTD"


College of veterinary sciences & Animal husbandry, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan organized one day seminar on October 18, 2018 on the topic “Students Awareness on Use of Medicinal Preparation for Livestock’’ Sponsorsed by Nawan Laboratories (PVT) Ltd. The Guest Speaker of the Seminar was Dr Mujahid Akbar (Area Sales manager KPK) along with Subordinate staff of Nawan Laboratories.
The speaker delivered a comprehensive talk on use of Medicinal Products like antibiotics, Anthelmintic, Metabolic enhancer, Tonics and various supplement regarding animals feeding prepared by Nawan Laboratories (PVT) Ltd.
The DVM 9th and 7th semester students took great interest in the seminar and raised thoughts provoking questions about usage of various medicine.
In concluding session, the Chief Guest, Professor Dr. Sadeeq Ur Rahman, Principal College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan appreciated the efforts of Dr. Ali Gohar IN charge Veterinary Clinical services and Dr. Fazli Rabbani IN charge Experimental Animal Shed for organizing such a useful event for the students.
